Melanie C is the new front of shirt sponsor for Sheffield FC Women for 2026-27. Meadowhall, the shopping centre four miles from the city centre, takes the front of the men's shirt. Both were announced in the middle of August, alongside the club's new adidas kits.
The club they are backing is the oldest one there is. Sheffield FC was founded in 1857 and is recognised by FIFA as the world's oldest football club, which means every set of shirts it puts out carries a bit of the game's origin story on it. This season one of those sets has a Spice Girl's name across the chest.
"It is an honour to support the women's team at Sheffield FC," Melanie C said. "Sheffield holds such a special place in my heart, having been such a big part of my career over the last 30 years."
Jon McClure, the club's chairman and the frontman of Reverend and the Makers, put the announcement in terms of recognition rather than money. "We want people in Sheffield and much further afield to understand just how special this club is and what it represents," he said.
Darren Pearce, centre director at Meadowhall, said the shopping centre was "incredibly honoured to join Jon, Melanie and everyone involved in this exciting next phase". No figures were disclosed for either deal.
